The September edition of The Home Retreat focuses on the patterns of the mind. But why is the mind important for a creative person? Because the stories we tell ourselves can sometimes need an update. They impact how we feel and define 95% of what we create, how we create it and what we do with that creativity. Let’s create some aligned stories!
The story of the home retreat
In March 2024, I felt drained, tired. I was in the midst of a big life transition. So you get it, maybe you’ve been there, I needed a real break. A get-away, an escape, a reset.
I started thinking I could go on a retreat somewhere for a week or two. I hadn’t taken a holiday in so long so why not. Then I thought “wherever you go, there you are”… just because I was in a new place wouldn’t necessarily mean that I would feel renewed… Also it couldn’t be possible that one needs to go far away just to reset for daily life. Surely that reset is something I would need regularly for many more years to come. And what about when I’m done with the retreat and come home, then I just go back to the way it was until the next holiday? That was just not a sustainable solution for me.
Freshly certified in holistic coaching, I also knew that I already had all the tools, I just needed the right atmosphere, the right setting. So I decided to create a home retreat for myself. I love my home. “Maison” in French (as in Maison Loüno) means “home”. And like a real Danish women, I’ve always invested and nested in my home. So I laid out the plan: I would take a week, would only work a few hours a day, take a break from social media but keep social rendez-vous and nourish my body and mind from the inside out.
After that deep retreat at home, I was able to sustain the rituals within my daily life and applying what I had cultivated into new unfolding events. Many things started to reconnect and fall into place, and one thing is certain, I had never felt more connected, alive & inspired.
Being a photographer, a holistic practitioner & an entrepreneur myself, this changed a lot of things. And because I believe no treasures are meant to be kept secret, I’ve gathered my learnings, techniques and shaped this whole experience into The Home Retreat which I’m thrilled to share with you today.
Love,
x Louise
